winter dusk - transition

Orange to the north behind Black Mountain.

Winter dusk over the Brindabellas often features a spectacular transition from orange to almost neon red as the sun dips down behind the ranges to the west.  Scrivener Hill in O’Malley is a great place to catch this transition with good views from Black Mountain in the north right around to Tidbinbilla – before Mt Taylor and a few larger trees start to get in the way a little. With cold, clear air this evening (after snow falls on the weekend) this transition moved beautifully from soft and muted to bold and vivid in the space of ten minutes.
