Clouds gathering in the late dusk over the Brindabellas – from Mt Wanniassa

Despite predictions of an El Niño summer the weather hasn’t really been that hot or dry in south east Australia yet – and now the forecast is for a week of increasingly unsettled weather with thunderstorms and rain. Regular afternoon build-ups are already creating some beautiful dusk cloudscapes as the setting sun and lengthening shadows battle with gathering and threatening billows.

Mt Wanniassa is a great location for photographing Canberra cloud and landscapes with views west towards the Brindabellas (and sunsets!), south over Tuggeranong to Mt Tennent and east towards the storms that regularly pass behind Canberra.  There’s easy access from Fadder, Fadden and Isaacs and plenty of walking tracks to access different views.
