Decided to get back into some native orchid action this spring by shooting some footage on the RED Dragon macro rig . Orchids were my first real plant obsession before getting into banksias, then grevilleas (with a few other random Proteaceae along the way!) Quite a few to tick off the list around Canberra – including a heap at the nearby Aranda Bushlands – so will have to get cracking now before the hot, dry summer kicks in …

RED Dragon macro rig – with modified Genus Sherpa and 200mm Micro Nikkor. This set-up gets about as close to horizontal the ground as you can with a RED without using a bag (or turning the camera upside down!)
